Dr Kalyar (Swami Kalyarananda) is a trauma and orthopaedic physician, a specialist in Ayurveda and complementary medicine, with more than thirty years of practice.
His full name is Kalyar Chandra Jha. Born in Nepal, he studied Ayurveda there before studying medicine in Russia, specialising in trauma and orthopaedics.
His work has taken him to Nepal, Russia, China, Japan and Germany. Since 2002, he has run his own centre with his wife, Dr Alla Jha.
A family tradition.
A ninth-generation yogi and tantric Brahmin, Dr Kalyar grew up in a family where yoga and Ayurveda were passed down through generations. His father, Dr Kamdev Jha, was his first teacher.
